SMS Consent & Messaging Terms
Effective: July 8, 2026
Overview
HappyShift is a workforce scheduling platform for licensed home care agencies. HappyShift/Sloane sends transactional scheduling SMS on behalf of those agencies to existing caregivers who have given their agency permission to receive work-related scheduling texts. This page explains how consent is recorded, what messages caregivers may receive, and how to opt out.
Who receives messages
HappyShift sends SMS messages only to existing caregivers (W-2 employees or 1099 contractors) employed or contracted by licensed home care agencies that use the HappyShift platform. We do not send messages to patients, clients, members of the general public, public lead lists, purchased lists, or marketing lists. No protected health information is ever included in any message.
How caregiver consent is recorded
During caregiver signup, hiring, onboarding, scheduling setup, or roster import, the agency collects the caregiver's mobile phone number and records permission to receive recurring work-related scheduling SMS from HappyShift/Sloane on the agency's behalf. Agencies may import that consent from their scheduling or EHR platform, or record it directly before enabling HappyShift outreach.
In HappyShift, operators confirm caregiver SMS permission when adding a caregiver or importing caregivers. Import flows and manual add-caregiver flows include an operator acknowledgment that the caregiver(s) being added or imported have given the agency permission to receive recurring scheduling texts from HappyShift/Sloane on the agency's behalf.
Caregivers also have access to notification settings in HappyShift. Operators can turn off outreach for an individual caregiver from the caregiver profile, and caregivers can opt out at any time by replying STOP or another supported opt-out keyword.
Verbal consent script
When consent is collected verbally during onboarding or a scheduling phone call, the agency coordinator uses the following script before any SMS messages are sent:
Coordinator script:
If the caregiver agrees, the coordinator confirms:
If the caregiver declines, the coordinator marks that the caregiver does not consent to SMS outreach, and no text messages are sent through HappyShift.
Each opt-in is recorded with the caregiver's name, mobile phone number, consent status, and the consent source when provided by the agency or its imported source system. Only caregivers who have consented receive outbound SMS, and any caregiver who replies STOP or otherwise revokes consent is removed from SMS outreach.
What messages you will receive
Once opted in, caregivers receive transactional SMS messages related to shift scheduling. These include:
- Open shift offers when a caregiver cancels and you are eligible for the replacement shift
- Shift confirmation messages when you accept a shift
- Shift reminders and updates
- Availability questions and replies to scheduling questions
- Scheduling status updates when a shift is filled or changed
Example messages:
Message frequency
Message frequency varies and is driven entirely by scheduling events at your employer agency. On average, caregivers receive between 1 and 10 messages per week depending on how often shifts become available. HappyShift does not send marketing messages, promotional offers, or advertising of any kind.
Message & data rates
Message and data rates may apply based on your mobile carrier plan. HappyShift does not charge caregivers to receive messages.
How to opt out
You can opt out of all HappyShift SMS messages at any time by replying STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, or OPTOUT to any message you receive. After opting out, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
If you previously opted out, you can opt back in by replying START, UNSTOP, or RESUME.
